STUDENTS of Grades 9 and 10 will have an opportunity to win a computer, printer and other tech prizes in the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry/BrainCentral Math and English online Olympiad this month.
This online competition is being held in commemoration of Education Month and endorsed by the Ministry of Education with media support from the National Communications Network.
Students and parents are asked to go to the website www.braincentral.online to sign up for the competition and review the rules. They will have access to thousands of quizzes to practice for the online and live rounds, scheduled for September 21 and September 28 respectively.
Schools are also encouraged to participate. Group registration is being facilitated and details of the group members can be sent to marketing@gbtibank.com or lance.hinds@brainstreetgroup.com
During the preliminary round scheduled for September 21, 2019, competitors will be required to log in at a particular time. For this round participants will compete from a location of their choice or convenience- home, school or wherever they have internet access.
The first ten students with the highest average scores on the online tests will participate in the final live round, to be held at the Arthur Chung Convention Centre on September 28 at 13:00hrs.
Participants must be in Grade 9 or 10 and must complete the online competition without assistance from others.
Prizes include a computer and printer, tablets and GBTI Early Savers Accounts Gift Certificates.
BrainCentral is a convenient, online educational portal for students from Grades 1 to 11. The long term idea is to give students the opportunity to access teaching materials, whether it be quizzes, revision notes or even online tutors to help them with their studies.
At the moment, the portal is offering thousands of quizzes at the various grades which students can use as practice.
